The 1/4/99 Plastics News reports ("DaimlerChrysler sets recycling
standards") that the company is asking its suppliers to provide at least
20% recycled content by weight in 2000, and 30% in 2002. The policy is
coming from pressures in Europe to make vehicles more recyclable "plus
beliefs that a recycling policy can help the company economically, said
DailerChrysler environmental-affirs spokesperson, Sonja Bultynck. The
article also reports that Ford also has a recycling strategy from 1994, but
that policy "is far more lenient.
