** EPA INFORMATION ** Jobs Through Recycling

This site highlights the EPA's initiative to put the tools of business development into the hands of recycling professionals. The initiative provides funding and information to recycling market development staff throughout the country. EPA's goal is to use recycling programs to create jobs as well as to minimize waste that would otherwise go into landfills. The site contains information on financing, grants, community involvement, and more.

Washington State Department of Ecology, Solid Waste and Financial Assistance Program

This program strives to conserve waste and prevent pollution through waste reduction, recycling, and waste facility regulation. It provides technical and financial assistance, education, and help with interpretation of regulations. The web site contains links to pages on workshops, reports, focus sheets, handbooks, and regional offices, among others.

The Alliance of Foam Packaging Recyclers

The Alliance consists of over 80 companies involved in the manufacture of EPS (expanded polystyrene transport packaging foam- commonly, though incorrectly known as "Styrofoam"). The organization works to set up collection sites for EPS recycling, reprocessing, and reuse. The Web site offers information on how the foam can be recycled, how to set up programs, and how to contact local groups. There is also a link to a page with several inexpensive publications, posters, and "getting started" kits, as well as a link to a statistics page.
