Subject: NRC Memory Lane (20th Anniversary)

For the 20th anniversary celebrations of the founding of the National
Recycling Coalition (NRC) in Albuquerque, Mary T'Kach is developing a display
and asks you to look in your files, attics, dressers and desk drawers for
souvenirs, T-shirts, photographs, Congress brochures, flyers, policy
statements, lists of annual award-winners, NRC Board lists, SRO contact lists,
NRC Connections, NRC Board agendas and more!!!

The NRC's photo files are empty from 1978 to 1993 or so, so we have lots of
territory to cover here. Let's see those pictures of folks from 1981 and
those pictures of people dressed in PET outfits and steel cans. Does anyone
have a picture of Hal Conklin dressed as Superman from the Fresno First
National Recycling Congress? How about Pete Grogan square dancing at the 2nd
National Recycling Congess in Boulder, Gif Stack hoisting a few in Milwaukee
or Brooke Nash Taking the Wrap to Boston? Let's show NRC's true diversity of
spirit, ideas and activities!

I am also trying to reconstruct the historical files of NRC to highlight the
tremendous network that we have built over the past two decades and the many
issues that we have addressed. To do that, I would like to compile the NRC
Board lists, SRO contact lists and award-winner lists through the years. I
would also like to compile a timeline of the key
events/accomplishments/debates of NRC through the years. If you would like an
old version of a timeline I previously prepared to help jog your memory,
please email me back with your fax number, and I'll fax that to you. Please
send those documents, key dates and topics/events directly to me at 4395 Gold
Trail Way, Loomis, CA 95650, fax to 916-652-0485 or email to me at
GaryLiss@aol.com.

Please send all other items to:

Mary T'Kach
Aveda Corporation
4000 Pheasant Ridge Drive
Minneapolis, MN 55449
612-783-4215

Mary will put all this good stuff into a display for the NRC Congress in
Albuquerque in September. She will return items to you if they are clearly
marked (however, Mary's lawyer says she cannot be responsible for lost or
stolen items). If you would like to donate any items to the NRC's historical
files, that would be welcomed as well!

Mary also notes that people may not spend a lot of time reading at the NRC's
Congress booth, so the most important things to find right now are key photos
or clippings (and minimal text!). Pictures of recycling equipment, drop-off
stations, processing facilities, public education materials, and even certain
recyclers, etc. from 20 years ago would be welcomed.

So...please dig into your memorabilia and walk down Memory Lane to send
materials to Mary by the end of next week (August 20 preferably). Jerry
Powell has graciously donated his office's technical services to enlarge,
reduce, reprint, mount and otherwise make this display look presentable.

Thanks!
