Subject: Composting

I am impressed with the Hutchinson composting case history.

I don't mean to be negative, but in the case of solid waste composting,
(where truck have to haul the material) I read one study from Europe which
found composting to be more costly overall than recycling or incineration.
The study took into account lifecycle factors, environmental, and economics.
The biggst cost was on transportation.

I covered it in the July issue of Recycling Laws International.

The study was done by Coopers & lybrand London, for the EC in 1995.

Best of luck!
