John,
I seem to recall a group in Baltimore that worked with disadvantaged
youth to turn pallets into furniture and cosmetic items. Body Shop was
one of the purchasers. I think it may have been written up in In
Business (JG Press) a couple years ago. Sorry to be so vague, but
perhaps this will trigger somebody else's memory.

There are nice benefits from such locally adaptive "informal reuse" - it'd
be nice to see more encouragement/facilitation, such as mentions by public
recycling programs on web pages etc. -k
