Subject: Solid Waste and Greenhouse Gases; Kyoto Conference
The Kyoto Conference on climate change has a Web page, which
provides information on the conference activities at:
Included is a schedule of the official sessions and the ability to
tap into the presentations (including Al Gore on Monday), via
RealAudio, either live or on tape at:
http://www.cop3.ne.jp/schedule.html
The US EPA has also put their draft publication "Greenhouse Gas
Emissions from Municipal Solid Waste Management", March 1997, on the
web at:
http://www.epa.gov/OSWRCRA/non-hw/muncpl/ghg.htm
Landfills are reported to be the largest source of methane emissions
in the US; methane has approximately 25 times the per-weight
greenhouse effect of CO2.
